Above the bar at the Wriggly Monkey Brewery is our experimental small batch brewing kit, and on it we brewed four exciting new beers for Tryanuary - one for each week of January.
Tryanuary is all about getting out of your comfort zone and trying new beers. Over the festive period we all take comfort in enjoying our old favourites, but with the Christmas lights firmly in the rear-view mirror, we let our Head Brewer loose to create a few beers that are outside of our usual scope.
Sanction V 5.2% Black IPA - available January 6th and 7th only
Our Black IPA is a bit of a sleeper - it has the sweetness and fruity body of a big American IPA, yet the dark roasty appearance of a stout. There's just a subtle touch of dark coffee on the nose and palette as a nod to a traditional winter beer, but this is definitely a kegged pint that drinks like something from across the Atlantic.
